The idea that Florentine Restaurants will be forever traditional has been proven wrong.   We are seeing more and more innovative cooking styles popping up around the City.  Check out out a few of our favorites.

http://www.zebgastronomia.com/ When I arrived in Florence Fourteen years ago. Zeb – was my local delicatessen. Always selling the best mozzarella di Bufala, Prosciutto from San Daniele and holding a great selection of Wine. A few years ago the sons owner Alberto decided to transform the place in to part eatery remaining as a high end delicatessen. His mother Giuseppina is one of the best cooks in town. This fabulous duo have created the perfect lunch or dinner stop. Fresh seasonal dishes – my favourites include Hand made pear and pecorino ravioli pockets with a poppy seed and burrata sauce.  I prefer Zeb for lunch with no more than one or two people as you are seated on comfortable stools at the bar.

http://www.io-osteriapersonale.it/ Situated in the district of San Frediano. Owner Matteo Fantini’s innovative style exceeds our expectations every time we visit this fantastic location. Don’t arrive expecting pasta! The menu is differentiated by meat, vegetables, fish and cheese rather than your typical starter, first course, second course.  Try two dishes or choose from the tasting menu.  Be sure to leave space for the delicious dessert.  I love the Chocolate Soufflè with EVO served with apricot sorbet and basil.  We also tried the white warm chocolate with EVO topped with lavender granita and passion fruit. All products are national mostly Tuscan from hill towns that surround the city. I love the list in the menu explaining where the products derive. Matteo has selected the best wines from boutique wineries around the country. He has a fantastic selection that combine perfectly with each plate. You can also taste a different glass of wine with each plate as of course he has the enomatic machine!

www.ilborrobistrot.it The Ferragamo family continue to create some of the best eateries, bars and Hotel’s in town.  The Gallery Art Fusion Bar & Restaurant where one of the first premises to show fusion and contemporary flair. Il Borro Bistrot offers top seasonal products any time of the day from 10am -11pm you will be greeted by the very hospitable manager Fabio to experience a innovative and interesting menu.  Love this venue for an aperitif it’s out door seating boasts one of the best views in town. Overlooking the Ponte Vecchio.  Inside seating is also pleasant where you can see top chefs through the glass windows of the kitchen.
